The CO-SUSTAIN project was represented at the 21st Conference on Sustainable Development of Energy, Water and Environment Systems (SDEWES), held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria from 30 August to 3 September 2026. During the conference, the presentation covered general information about the project, its research objectives, conceptual framework and methodology, together with the historical examples, case studies and selected key results. The results focused mainly on the Polish case study, the Krakow Smog Alert, an example of activism as a form of political participation that could encourage society to promote more sustainable directions in cities.

This was the second appearance of CO-SUSTAIN at the SDEWES conference series. The project was also presented at the 20th SDEWES Conference, held in Dubrovnik from 5 to 10 October 2025, in a contribution entitled “Co-creating sustainable transitions: Lessons from Polish case studies”.

Both presentations were well received and prompted numerous questions regarding the concept, methodology, and the impact of the results and the policy recommendations that follow from them.
