CO-SUSTAIN at the ESA Conference in Warsaw

At the 17th ESA Conference in Warsaw, the CO-SUSTAIN team participated in the panel “Strengthening democracy to tackle crises: How cooperation between local authorities and collective action initiatives can help to challenge climate degradation and mounting authoritarianism in Europe”, coordinated by Alessandro Sciullo and Davide Grasso.

Participation provided an opportunity to present and discuss the CO-SUSTAIN research project within a dedicated panel, which brought together different empirical and theoretical contributions. The discussion revealed common themes across the case studies, and offered an opportunity to further explore themes already central to CO-SUSTAIN. Comparisons with other European cases and methodological approaches helped to contextualise the project’s findings within broader sociological debates on sustainability transitions and democracy. The conference therefore provided a valuable opportunity for academic exchange and refining the project’s conceptual and empirical perspectives.
